Flexible Marquetery
Combe Laval is the result of an exceptional collaboration between Pierre Henri Beyssac, a marquetry artist, combined with the woodworking expertise of the ARCA team and its founder, Steven Leprizé. This artwork combines traditional craftsmanship with technology, bringing wooden elements to life through robotics. Pierre Henri Beyssac’s marquetry is made flexible and set into motion. Throughout the day, Combe Laval evolves and interacts with the spectators observing it, its cliffs become alive and the fossils are revealed. This immersive work reminds us of the perpetual cycle of nature and invites viewers to ponder the ephemeral beauty of existence, capturing the very essence of life.
