Fût – Mirror
Brut Collection ©
Splitting is the most relevant and ancient process for cutting solid wood. The fiber order is respected, minimizing cross-grain, thus providing more stable and stronger pieces that won’t deform over time. This physically demanding technique is executed at the corners and with a maul or mallet. This design is a powerful visual metaphor: just as a mirror allows us to discover our own inner truth, the fissures in the trunk reveal the hidden secrets of wood, its soul, its uniting nature and humanity in a single piece of art. The coat hooks are bronze replicas of felling wedge corners, belonging to the Leprizé family for several generations.
